In separate incidents on Thursday, a crash occurred near Route 50 at Interstate 97 and a man crashed into a house in Eastport.
Emergency officials reported a highway crash on Thursday afternoon and an incident where a man drove a car into a house in Eastport on Thursday night.
Units responded at 12:17 p.m. Thursday to a crash near U.S. Route 50 and Interstate 97, according to Capt. James Rostek of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. They transported a man believed to be around 47 years old to Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Car Crashes Into House
Around 7 p.m. on Thursday, the Annapolis Police Department reported that a car crashed into a home in the 800 block of Chester Avenue in Eastport. The residents were home and were not injured in the crash, but police said a building inspector declared the home unsafe.
Ryan Gill, 22, of Severn reportedly drove down Norman Drive at a high rate of speed and failed to stop or turn when approaching Americana Drive. Police said his vehicle went through several fences and a tennis court before it struck the home on Chester Avenue. See photos of the accident on Eye on Annapolis.
Police said Gill faces multiple charges including driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, leaving the scene of an accident and resisting arrest. He is being held on $25,000 bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center, according to police on Friday morning.
