The scholarship goes toward the cost of higher education up to $1 million.
An Annapolis High School student is being awarded for his accomplishments in a big way.
Trevor Queen, a senior, received the prestigious Gates Millenium Scholarship for his academic, leadership and extracurricular acheivements, according to a news release from Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
The scholarship will pay for Queen's undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate studies up to $1 million, the release states. Some of his accomplishments include earning a 4.0 grade point average, serving as president of the school's National Honor Society and participating in athletic programs.
Queen plans to attend Morehouse College in the fall.
The scholarship program—which was founded by a $1 billion grant from Bill and Melinda Gates—promotes academic excellence and provides financial assistance for outstanding minority students with financial needs.
