Appreciate Some Music, the Army Way

Make plans to be at the Annapolis Towne Centre at Parole on Friday night for the Army Band concert.

 

Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-with-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.

1. FREE Army Band Concert

  • Where/When: Annapolis Towne Centre at ParoleFriday, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Why: Kick off your weekend with a lively step as the Army Band plays well known marches and renditions of popular music. 
  • Price: Free. 

2. Friday Night Date Night on the Potomac

  • Where/WhenNational Harbor, National Harbor, Fort Washington, MD. Friday, 8:30 p.m.
  • Why:  Have a date in our nation's capital on the Potomac River. The movie shown for this evening is "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past." Chairs and blankets are suggested. No outside food or alcohol is permitted.
  • Price:  Free.

3. Annapolis Irish Festival

  • Where/WhenAnne Arundel County Fairgrounds, 1520 Crownsville Rd., Crownsville. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Why: This inaugural festival will feature traditional Celtic music, Celtic Rock bands on multiple stages. Bring the kids to visit Little Leprechaun Land with an enormous area dedicated to children's activites including pony rides, moon bounces, games and much more. 
  • Price: $15 per person until Friday, July 8. Price then raises to $20 per person.

    4. Back Pages Band Live, Quiet Waters Concert Series

    • Where/When: Quiet Waters Park. Saturday, 6 to 8 p.m.
    • Why: Enjoy the music of the 60s and 70s featuring Classic Rock/Pop by the Back Pages Band. Bring a blanket or chair to relax on the lawn at Quiet Waters Park. Alcohol is not permitted on the premises. 
    • Price: Free.

      5. Beer Class: Hops and IPAs

      • Where/When:  Punk's Backyard Grill. Sunday, 7 to 9 p.m.
      • Why: Discover the hard working backbone of the India Pale Ale (IPA). Hops are the reason for that fragrant brew that beer lover's appreciate. This class will teach you more about beer than how to drink it as you taste your way through five selections of 'hoppy' brews. 
      • Price: $30 per person, snacks included.
