Austin Grill Closes at Westfield Annapolis

The Tex-Mex restaurant closed during the holiday season at the Parole mall.

Austin Grill at Westfield Annapolis Mall recently closed, one of two restaurants the chain shuttered in Maryland.

The sign on the outside of the Tex-Mex restaurant has been taken down and a notice on the front door informs would-be patrons of the closure.

According to company's website, the Rockville location also was shut down. Gift cards purchased at either location can be used at their other locations in Silver Spring; Washington, DC; Springfield, VA, and Alexandria, VA.

Christi Wallace, the mall's marketing director, said they are still working on signing a new tenant for the location.

What restaurant, or type of restaurant, would you like to see fill the void?

Annapolis needs a good vegarian/pert vegetarian restaurant, not just salads.

I agree with Barb. I'm sick of greasy fast foot and steak houses. Annapolis has a large vegetarian population and we're tired of salads

Sounds like a good business opportunity. Why wait for someone else to do it--do it yourself. :-)

I'm not surprised that Austin Grill closed. The service was poor and the food mediocre. We were there twice and both times the wine that my wife ordered was out of stock. On one visit we were told they had NO wine at all. With all the other restaurants that have opened in Annapolis there is sufficient competition for customers to go elsewhere if expectations aren't meet.

We went one time and half way through dinner, the waiter brought the check and said, "you two do not look like the dessert or 2 drink type of people, so I here's your check." Boy was he wrong, but we were unwilling to order anything else after that remark.

I'm not surprised either. The service there was terrible!!! I agree with the other commenters that Annapolis needs a real veggie restaurant. Especially at the mall.

The area is saturated with restaurants. Another restaurant is not needed. There will be more restaurants closing their doors if this doesn't stop
