Black Squirrels in Annapolis?
The Washington Post said they're here. Patch found one at Truxtun Park. Have you seen them?
In April, The Washington Post ran a story on black squirrels, part of what it referred to as "an entire week’s worth of columns devoted to that most common of mammals."
In one of those columns was mention of the black squirrel population in Bay Ridge. While we haven't seen any in Bay Ridge, we did spot one in Truxtun Park Friday. It looked like it might have been a cross between a gray and black squirrel, but clearly it was darker than the average squirrel.
Have you seen any black squirrels in your neighborhood? If you have any photos please share them at john.wilfong@patch.com.
Here are the links to the two Post articles about the critters:

Ditto, here on Spa Road at The Gentry. We saw two baby black squirrels last summer on a daily basis in our yard at the feeders. Have only seen one adult this year though. But have you all ever seen a white squirrel? There is at least one on the Eastern shore on Bloomingdale Road in Queenstown. I have seen it every summer for the past two years. Really cool to look at! Tried to take a picture a few times but it's very elusive.

Alexandra - I love that you were able to photographically capture your yard visitor! I think because they're not as common as gray squirrels, it's always a treat to see them.
