Multi-Car Accident Shuts Down Route 2

Solomons Island Road closed in both directions on Wednesday afternoon due to a serious accident near Yellowfin Steak & Fish House.

Update (5:38 p.m.)—A source at the Southern District Police station said all lanes of traffic are now open on Route 2, following a multi-car accident that shut down Solomons Island Road in both directions Wednesday afternoon.

Photos from the accident were provided by the Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department with approval from Lt. John Sweeney.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department Lt. Cliff Kooser told Patch firefighters and paramedics responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident and found two people with "very minor" injuries. The accident reportedly occurred near Yellowfin Steak & Fish House.

Firefighters had to use equipment to get the patients out of their car because the door was jammed, but Kooser said he didn't consider it an "entrapment." Both individuals were taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, Kooser said.

A source at the Southern District Police Station said the accident involved multiple vehicles and temporarily closed Route 2 in both directions. However, as of 4 p.m., several Patch readers on Facebook said that one lane of traffic is open in both directions.
