City Offers Free Parking at Market House
The spaces will be free as work continues on the installation of the geothermal heating and cooling units.
Annapolis officials said the parking spaces along Market Space will be free as workers continue to drill wells for a new geothermal heating and cooling system for the Market House.
Mayor Josh Cohen said the move to provide the two-hour spots for free is an attempt to support the businesses located along the street, according to a release. There are 17 affected spaces.
Delivery parking on the street must be made available Monday though Friday from 7 to 11 a.m. Free parking is available after 11 a.m.
One lane of traffic is open in Market Space during construction and all sidewalks are open.
Also, the Market House is a popular pickup spot for students from St. Mary's Elementary and High Schools. The city has asked parents to not use the area during construction, according to the release.
Construction is expected to last about six to eight weeks.
