Council To Meet About Crownsville Golf Course
Annapolis City Council will meet in a closed door session on Monday to discuss the Eisenhower Golf Course.
UPDATE: (11:00 a.m.)—Annapolis City Council will meet in a closed session to discuss the city’s legal interest in the Eisenhower Golf Course on Monday at 6 p.m.
The city has been considering the sale or lease of the 208-acre Crownsville property since November 2011.
Annapolis leases the golf course to Anne Arundel County, and the two split profits based on the terms of a 50-year contract that expires in 2016.
In 2010, Annapolis earned $125,000 from the course, according to the city's website. The course has a Maryland tax assessment value of $9.2 million.
Eisenhower's General Manager Damian Cosby said he knew about the closed door session, but didn't know if the city has decided to sell or lease the property.
A spokeswoman for the Council declined to comment on the purpose of the closed session.
Eisenhower is a 6,659-yard course with 18 holes. It was built in 1969 and is currently managed by Billy Casper Golf.

Gotta be a perfectly good reason for a closed door session. Can't imagine our local politicians would ever be up to anything.

Has the City Council been shown their own Waterworks Park Master Plan, which identifies the Eisenhower Golf Course as a vital linkage in a proposed trail system from Rt. 450 Waterworks Park all the way up to the 630 acre Bacon Ridge Natural Area/ Crownsville Hospital Woods? Selling off park assets seem an ill-fated short term vision instead of ensuring long term access to nature for the City's citizens. Why would this information be needed to be closed to the public for discussions?
