Dream Leads Annapolis Woman to $50K Lottery Win
Sarah Bird says her grandmother came to her in a dream and told her "play the five."
An Annapolis woman is $50,000 richer thanks to a dream she had about her late grandmother.
"I moved to Maryland to care for my grandmother who was in failing health," Sarah Bird said in a news release. “After she passed, I had a dream where she told me to ‘play the five.’ I had no idea what it meant until I realized that the lottery had a game with '5' in its name. I put two and two together.”
Bird said she started playing Maryland's Bonus Match 5 as often as she could after the dream, which happened in June 2012. When she checked her numbers in early January 2013, Bird realized she'd won.
"I started screaming," Bird said. "I called my aunt and scared the heck out of her. She thought something terrible had happened.”
Bird manages an Annapolis car service, and she said the win couldn't have come at a better time. She plans to use the money to take care of bills and help her family.
Bird bought the winning ticket at the 7-Eleven at 980 Bay Ridge Road.
