Ebb Tide is a great place that features ice cold drafts, comfy stools and good people on both sides of the bar. You can tell how much an establishment appreciates their customers by how seriously they take their happy hour, and Ebb Tide embraces this one like a big bear hug.

First of all, happy hour runs a full seven days a week — none of that paltry Monday through Friday nonsense. It kicks off daily at 11 a.m. and runs a full eight hours until 7 p.m. That's not happy hour — that's happy most-of-your-day.

Ebb Tide is a solid beer room, and the selection is about what you'd want and expect it to be, with the usual liquor suspects all lined up as well. Wine technically is available, if you're the type who asks for escargot at a really good rib joint. We stuck with domestics to keep things in tune with the room. Bottles are on special for $2.50, and 16-ounce drafts are nicely priced at $2.25 each. They were good and cold.

Classic rock flowed from the sound system and refills arrived without even asking. There is a "come as you are" attitude where everyone is taken at face value. It doesn't matter if you're wearing a Rolex or a Timex; nobody minds and nobody cares. (How many Annapolis bars can you say that about?)

Ebb Tide also does a nice job on their happy hour edibles, with discount pricing on different things each day. The food is simple and straightforward, and right in line with the venue. For example, cheeseburgers were on special when we were there, and they were cooked right and juicy. Not bad for $1.50. Plus, like any real bar, they've got plenty of complimentary pretzels and popcorn too.

Ebb Tide offers a great happy hour value with four drafts and two burgers setting us back a grand total of $12 before tip. Environment also plays a big part as well, and this is where Ebb Tide really excels, with an unassuming attitude and relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to unplug after a long day. 

Now, the Ebb Tide might not be the best place to take a first date if you're trying hard to impress, but for a group of friends out for a good time or to just kick back and chill on your way home from work, it's as good as it gets in Greater Annapolis.
