Check Out the Santa Speedo Run this Weekend

From Santas in Speedos to holiday music, this weekend is packed full of events around Annapolis.

 

What do the holidays sound like? This weekend offers several chances to find out with a variety of Christmas concerts. Santa and Elvis will also make appearances around the region. What are you up to this weekend?

What: 4th Annual Santa Speedo Run

When/Where: Saturday; O'Brien's Oyster Bar and Restaurant, 113 Main St.; race check-in starts at noon and the runners take off around 1:45 p.m. After that, participants will head back to O'Brien's to celebrate with entertainment from The Rovers and The Sly 4 Band, starting at 2 p.m.

Why Go: Have fun for a good cause. Watch as runners will pack the streets of downtown Annapolis dressed as Santa with just one minor costume modification. Instead of the normal red suit, they'll be wearing speedos and bikinis. As part of the annual event, toys will be collected for Toys for Tots.

Cost: $25 to participate, free to watch (Though spectators are encouraged to bring toys that can be donated.)

What: Brian Ganz and the Borowsky Family Perform Brahms and Dohnanyi

When/Where: 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, 333 Dubois Rd., Annapolis

Why go: Enjoy the classical sounds of Christmas by performers who have taken the stage at Carnegie Hall, New York City Opera and Kennedy Center. You'll be having fun while benefiting the programs and ministry of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis.

Cost: $15

What: Breakfast with Santa at CAT South

When/Where: 9-11 a.m. Saturday at CAT South, 201 Central Ave., Edgewater

Why go: The students and staff at CAT South invite children to have breakfast with Santa Claus. They will have reindeer games, crafts and face painting, plus a professional portrait with Santa will be available.

Cost: $7 per child

What: Holiday Concert at the Village at Waugh Chapel

When/Where: 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Village at Waugh Chapel, 1326 Main Chapel Way, Gambrills

Why go: Enjoy the music of local music legend Dr. Phillip Butts and the Sunset Band, who will perform classic and contemporary jazz and R&B. The Piney Orchard Chorale will perform holiday songs.

Cost: Free

What: Pasadena Craft Fair

When/Where: 10 a.m. Saturday at 1319 Edna Road, Pasadena

Why go: There's a wide variety of crafted offerings available. Come see if there's anything you'd like.

Cost: Free
