Flu Shots Still Offered

A Patch reader wants to know if flu vaccines remain available.

Greater Annapolis Patch reader Mark Phillips sent in a question about flu shots. He wants to get a flu vaccine to protect himself and wondered if the county was still providing them.

According to the Anne Arundel County Department of Health website, the flu vaccine offered this year protects against both H1N1 and other strains of seasonal flu. The Department of Health is still offering walk-in clinics for free flu shots and nasal spray.

Weekly walk-in clinics are available locally at the Parole Health Center on 1950 Drew St. in Annapolis. Clinics are held every Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with additional afternoon hours from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays. To contact the clinic, call 410-222-7247.

In addition, a clinic will be held on Dec. 9 at the Health Services Building at 3 Harry S. Truman Parkway in Annapolis from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, call 410-222-7343.

Additional clinics will be held in Glen Burnie. More information can be found on the Department of Health's website.

Furthermore, flu shots are available for a fee at pharmacies around town at Safeway, Giant Food, CVS and Shoppers Food Warehouse.
