GOING OUT GUIDE: June 7-10

Here are some ideas of where to go and what to do this weekend in Annapolis.

 


The "Going Out Guide" is a weekly feature on Annapolis Patch that lists what's happening in and around the city for the coming weekend.

From concerts to art shows, the guide strives to let people know everything there is to do.

Events lasting more than one day are listed on the first day they start. 


Thursday June 7, 2012:

What: Pints and Pups-A doggie happy hour on the patio featuring live music and complimentary treats for your four-legged friends from Paws pet boutique.

When: 4 p.m.

Where: Fado Irish Pub1 Park Place

Cost: Free 


What: Eastport Yacht Club Spring Cotillion-A public block party to celebrate "marine wizards" who work in the marine trades and send off the 2012 Bermuda Ocean Race crews. 

When: 5 to 10 p.m.

Where: Eastport Yacht Club317 First St.

Cost: $5 in advance, $10 at the door.


What: Rock the Dock-A live concert with food, prizes and drinks that helps the Annapolis Rotaract Club raise awareness and funds for Maryland Food Link.

When: 6 to 9 p.m.

Where: Annapolis Maritime Museum, 723 Second St.

Cost: $45


What: Edwin McCain-For fans of Pop/Rock Music, Dave Matthews, Shawn Mullins and Sister Hazel.

When: 8 p.m.

Where: Rams Head Tavern33 West St.

Cost: $35


Friday June 8, 2012:

What: Spa Creek Cleanup - Celebrate World Oceans Day by cleaning up a local creek. Sperry Topsider and United By Blue are sponsoring the event and will be giving out prizes to a few lucky volunteers.

When: noon to 2:30 p.m.

Where: Volunteers should meet by Truxton Park Pool

Cost: It's free, but volunteers are asked to sign up by emailing cleanup@unitedbyblue.com or visiting United By Blue's website.


What: World Ocean Day happy hour- Appetizers will be provided by Buddy's Crab & Ribs, and beer will be provided by Fordham Brewing Company to celebrate the day and the cleanup at Truxton Park.

When: 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Where: Sperry Topsider, 36 Market Space

Cost: Free


What: Moonlight and Magnolias-A comedic play about the making of the film production of Gone With the Wind.

When: 8 p.m.

Where: Colonial Players Theatre108 East St., Annapolis

Cost: $20

Note: The set of this production will be strewn with peanuts. Patrons with peanut allergies should take precaution.


What: Larry Graham & Graham Central Station-One of the founding fathers of funk, Larry Graham is best known as the bass player for Sly & The Family Stone.

When: June 8 and June 9 at 8 p.m.

Where: Rams Head Tavern33 West St.

Cost: $75


Saturday June 9, 2012:

What: The Annapolis Arts and Crafts (and Wine!) Festival 2012-Features fine arts, handmade crafts, live performances, wine tastings, and food.

When: June 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and June 10 from 10 a.m to 5 p.m.

Where: Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium550 Taylor Ave

Cost: $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12 and seniors

Note: No pets.


What: Dueling Brushes-A quick draw competition where artists paint within a short time frame as part of Maryland Hall's Paint Annapolis competition.

When: Painting from 9 to 11:45 a.m. with judging starting at noon

Where: Susan Campbell Park near the City Dock

Cost: Free


What: Annapolis’s International Food, Wine & Hops Festival-Participating venues will offer food, beer and wine samples to participants as they stroll through downtown Annapolis. Cooking demos, live music, and live entertainment will take place throughout the day at some locations.

When: 1 p.m.

Where: The event will be “Circle to Circle”–from Westgate Road to Church Circle.

Cost: $33

Note: This is a ticket-less event. You must take your confirmation email to one of the following venues to get a wristband that will admit you into the event: Tsunami, Westin Hotel Lobby or Metropolitan Restaurant.


What: Sisters of Swing-A musical tribute to the Andrews Sisters, a popular female singing trio particularly remembered during World War II.

When: 8 p.m.

Where: Infinity Theatre, The CTA Theatre Complex, 1661 Bay Head Rd. 

Cost: Adult $38, Senior $32, Child $24


Sunday June 10, 2012:

What: Eastport Home & Garden Tour-A tour of 10 homes and gardens in the Quarter Landing enclave.

When: 1 to 5 p.m.

Where: Registration opens at 12:30 at the corner of President Street and  Moss Haven Court.

Cost: $25


What: Little River Band-An Australian band with a similar feel to the Eagles, The Doobie Brothers and Atlanta Rhythm Section

When: 1 p.m.

Where: Rams Head Tavern33 West St.

Cost: $45


What: Paint Annapolis Gallery Opening and Reception-Thirty of the nation’s finest plein air painters were selected to paint throughout Annapolis from June 7 to June 9, and the winners of the competition will be announced at this event.

When: 3 to 5 p.m.; awards ceremony at 4:30 p.m. (The paintings will be on display through July 15.)

Where: Maryland Hall's Chaney and Martino Galleries

Cost: Free


What: Marshall Tucker Band-For fans of Southern Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band and Eric Clapton.

When: 8 p.m.

Where: Rams Head Tavern33 West St.

Cost: $49.50
