Kirby Facing Investigation of Residency Requirements

The Annapolis Elections Board and the Office of Law are looking into the city's residency requirements for alderman and whether Kirby lives in Ward 6.

The situation surrounding Annapolis Alderman Kenneth Kirby continues to simmer as he prepares to face an investigation from the city's election board.

The question at hand is Kirby's residency and whether he is fulfilling the city's requirement to be an alderman. His residency came into question when city police found Kirby in an apartment that was targeted for suspected drug activity.

He was not charged with any crime and police said he has done nothing wrong.

The Baltimore Sun reported that Kirby will go before the election board Wednesday night. According to The Sun, officials said the city charter is unclear on just what the city's residency requirements are.

The story also said Mayor Josh Cohen is considering introducing legislation requiring aldermen to live in the ward they represent.
