John R. Leopold was sworn in today as Anne Arundel County Executive.
County Executive John R. Leopold was sworn in for his second term at the Pasadena Senior Center on Monday morning.
"This is a great honor and of course I'm proud to be here in Pasadena where I started my career 28 years ago," said Leopold during the swearing-in ceremony.
Leopold is the first Republican in Anne Arundel County to be re-elected county executive since 1978.
"Our first priority will always be trying to help create jobs," added Leopold. "There's nothing more family friendly than a job. It's our responsibility at the federal level, state level and local level to create jobs."
Leopold also emphasized the importance of fiscal responsibility and discipline.
"This is something we take very seriously because there's no more important responsiblity we have than to keep our fiscal house in order," said Leopold. "We'll continue to look for deficiencies ... to reduce spending."
Leopold concluded by saying that he was proud to have been elected in Pasadena and requested the community's continued support.
