McCormick and Schmick's Closes at Westfield Annapolis

The upscale seafood restaurant closed several locations across the country days after the chain was purchased.

Just days after another major restaurant closed at Westfield Annapolis mall in Parole, McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant has shut down its local operations.

Patch earlier reported that Austin Grill closed its doors the day after Christmas, one of two the regional chain closed in Maryland.

McCormick and Schmick's was recently purchased by Houston-based Landry's Restaurants Inc., which also owns Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and Claim Jumper, as well as several hotels and casinos, according to a story in the Los Angeles Times.

Shortly after the sale was completed, the company began closing McCormick and Schmick's locations around the country, including Annapolis, according to a story in Nation's Restaurant News.

Christi Wallace, marketing director at Westfield Annapolis, said the restaurant had a long-term lease on the spot. Mall officials are working on finding another tenant for the location.

"Obviously this gives us a really good opportunity to bring in some new tenants," Wallace said. "This is really the ever-evolving world of retail."
