Memorial for Annapolis Man Killed By Tree to be Held Friday

Santiago López was killed while working at a Broadneck home following Hurricane Sandy.

A memorial service for the Annapolis man killed by a tree during the cleanup from Hurricane Sandy will be held in Annapolis on Friday.

Lopez, 50, a 20-year resident of Annapolis and formerly of Constitución Mexicana in the town of San Juan Mazatlán, died on Oct. 31 when a tree fell on him during the cleanup of a Broadneck home after Hurricane Sandy.

He was the husband of Bertha Gonzalez Olea of Mexico and father of Miguel Angel López Gonzalez of Annapolis. With the help of donations from the community and the Mexican Consulate, his remains were returned to Mexico last month where he was buried.

The memorial service will be at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Annapolis located at 710 Ridgely Ave starting at 6:30 p.m. Friends are invited to attend.
