My Fabulous Finds From the Annapolis She Sale
The annual She Sale, a women's clothing consignment super sale, is going on this weekend at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center.
I happen to love a good consignment sale, and this weekend there is a huge one going on inside the gym at the Pip Moyer Community Recreation Center.
It's called the She Sale, and it features women's clothing, purses, shoes and jewelry. It also includes household items like lamps, end tables, DVDs and holiday decor.
I went for opening night on Thursday, and before the sale even started a long line of women was forming outside the gym entrance. Trying to find a parking space was tricky to say the least.
Once I got inside the sale, I was pleasantly surprised to find that all the clothing was not only sorted by catogory—like at the Goodwill—it was also sorted by size. That is often my biggest complaint about thrift store or consignment shopping: I loathe having to weed through rack after rack of clothes that aren't my size.
I quickly filled up a bag with items I wanted to try on and headed to the dressing room. A word of caution: the dressing room is an open space with mirrors and clothing racks. If you're squeamish about stripping down in public, I suggest a tank top and leggings be worn under your clothing. The She Sale also has a seamstress on site who offers to hem pants and other small alterations.
I ended up walking out of the sale with two J Crew tops, a Nanette Lepore skirt and an adorable pair of nearly new animal print flats. I can't decide whether I love the shoes more because my old leopard print flats recently gave up the ghost, or whether I love the skirt more because it was such an amazing find at only $35.
There were some really cute Coach and Mark Jacobs handbags, but I decided to pull myself back and return on Sunday when everything is 50 percent off. If this one gray, metallic bag I have my eye on survives the weekend, I'm going to take it as a sign that the universe wants me to own it.
The sale runs through Sunday, and if you're a clothing hoarder like me, you should probably check it out. The hours are below.
