Naval Academy Kicks Off Commissioning Week
The week concludes with graduation ceremonies on May 29.
On Wednesday, the Naval Academy is starting Commissioning Week, which honors graduating midshipmen.
Highlights of the festivities include the color parade on Wednesday, a pipes and drums performance on Friday and commencement ceremonies on May 29, according to the Naval Academy's Commissioning Week website. A full list of events can also be found on the site.
The events are also marked with attire guidelines for midshipmen and civilians, which are also detailed on the website.
Security will be heightened during Comissioning Week and everyone over the age of 16 is required to carry valid government issued picture identification. In addition, only vehicles with Department of Defense decals and Midshipman parent's passes are permitted on Naval Academy grounds.
Shuttles will run between the Naval Academy and Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium—where several Commissioning Week events will be held—every 30 minutes, according to the Naval Academy website.
Parking guidelines are also detailed on the site. Gates open at 6 a.m. on graduation day.
