Naval Academy Tops List of Public Liberal Arts Colleges
U.S. News & World Report released its 2013 rankings for best colleges on Wednesday, and the Annapolis-based academy received high marks.
The academy shared the top spot last year with its longtime rival the U.S. Military Academy, but this year Navy beat Army to claim sole ownership of the No. 1 ranking. West Point came in at No. 2.
“I’m proud that the Naval Academy continues to be recognized as one of the top institutions in the country," said Vice Admiral Michael Miller, who is the Naval Academy Superintendent. "With a world-class education, superb facilities and the opportunity to serve their country upon graduation, the Naval Academy is an excellent choice for the brightest young men and women in the nation.”
High school guidance counselors also picked the Naval Academy as their No. 1 choice in the liberal arts category.
On the national rankings for all liberal arts colleges, the academy came in at No. 14. Williams College, a private institution in Williamstown, MS, took the top spot in the national category.
Harvard University and Princeton University tied again this year for the title of Best National University.
