Navy Family Opens Muffin Shop on Main Street
Mark and Missy Maglin fell in love with My Favorite Muffin while stationed in Texas and decided to bring one to downtown Annapolis.
A new muffin, bagel and sandwich shop called My Favorite Muffin opened its doors at 138 Main St. for the first time on Thursday.
Co-owners Mark and Missy Maglin fell in love with the franchise when her husband's job moved them to Texas.
"We were living there when my husband was stationed in Corpus Christi," Missy Maglin said. "We really liked the product, and we really liked the concept."
Mark Maglin is a Naval Academy graduate from the Class of 1988, and the now retired commander spent his life in the military. Missy Maglin said her husband's job had them moving around every few years, but they always kept the idea of owning a muffin franchise in the back of their minds.
When her husband retired to civilian life this February, the couple knew it was the right time.
Maglin said she thinks having fresh-baked muffins and bagels daily will help her store distinguish it among the other restaurants located up and down Main Street, and she also plans on luring in as many midshipmen as possible.
"We sponsor three of them, and they've promised to bring their friends," Missy Maglin said.
The store muffins in both jumbo and miniature sizes, and a wide range of bagels. Orders can be placed over the phone for pickup by calling 410-263-1629. The menu also includes breakfast boxes and specials for companies looking for a morning treat for its employees.
The store is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you stop by in the next few days, employees are handing coupons for free muffins and buy one, get one sandwiches to customers.
