Navy Grad Wins Second Gold Medal at Paralympics

Naval Academy graduate Brad Snyder overcame being blinded in Afghanistan and has already won two gold medals and one silver in the 2012 Paralympic Games.

 

Naval Academy graduate Brad Snyder won his second gold medal in the 2012 Paralympic Games in London on Friday, according to Navy Sports.

Snyder graduated from the academy in 2006 where he was captain of the Navy swim team his senior year. While on patrol in Afghanistan in September 2011, Synder was blinded by an improvised explosive device.

His London gold medals are in 400m freestyle swimming and 100m freestyle. Snyder also won a silver medal for the 50m freestyle race. His last race—the 200m individual medley—takes place on Saturday.
