West Street Could Get New Office Building

The city planning commission will hold a public hearing on a special exception for the proposed building, and hear from developers of a proposed 33-home development off of Hilltop Lane.

The Annapolis Planning Commission is considering plans from a developer to construct a nearly 39,000-square-foot office building on outer West Street.

The commission has scheduled a public hearing for the project at its meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in City Council chambers.

The developer, Tate 1750 West Street, has applied for a special-exception application to be able to build the commercial building at 1730 West St.

The site is where Tate Dodge was located.

The application is related to various site improvements including parking, stormwater management and landscaping, according to the agenda published for Thursday’s meeting.

Housing development

The commission also has a work session planned for a planned residential development off of Milkshake Lane, which intersects with Hilltop Lane.

According to the agenda, the development would include 33 units—11 single-family homes and 22 townhomes.

The property is known as the Allen Property, across the street from Truxtun Park.

John, do you all know anything about the empty lot at the corner of West St and Somerville Rd, across from the Shell station? Looks like it has been leveled a bit, wondering what is in store for that area next. Thanks!

Jennifer, I'm not sure, but I'll look into it. I agree, it looks like something's brewing and also, that Halloween costume shop wasn't there this year if memory serves. I'll keep you up to date as I find stuff out. Thanks for the question.
