O'Malley Invites Chefs to Think Local
The Buy Local Cookout features chefs creating dishes using ingredients from Maryland sources.
Put your thinking caps on Maryland chefs!
Chefs have until May 21 to submit a recipe that using ingredients from at least one Maryland farmer, waterman or other producer, the release states. Those who submit recipes that best showcase Maryland's bounty will be invited to prepare their dish at the cookout, hosted by Governor Martin O'Malley.
Winners will be chosen from the following categories:
- Main Dish
- Side Dish or Salad
Recipes may also be published Maryland Department of Agriculture’s 2012 Maryland Buy Local Cookout Recipes cookbook.
The cookout kicks off Buy Local Challenge Week, where Marylanders are encouraged to eat one local product a day from July 21 to July 29.
