Giving is good. Giving and getting free guacamole and mojitos? That’s even better.
Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar is offering $25 gift cards to people who donate $25 or more to one of four Annapolis charities from Monday to Oct. 7, according to a press release.
The restaurant partnered with Annapolis Wellness House, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Light House Homeless Prevention Shelter and Patuxent Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) to help them fundraise.
“It’s really important to us to support the community that supports us," General Manager Ean Carroll said in a press release. "This is a fun way for us to highlight a handful of great organizations and help them boost their donations.”
People can donate a minimum of $25 to all four charities during the promotion and receive four gift cards for a total of $100 in free food. The cards will be mailed after the promotion ends on Oct. 7 to addresses that people will give during the online donation process.
PAWS treasurer Jean Radeackar said the opportunity to partner with Paladar caught her by surprise.
"I got an email from them that said we had been selected to have the opportunity, and one of their employees recommended us," Radeacker said.
She said she wasn't sure how the employee knew about the organization, but Radeackar said she was thrilled just the same to be included. PAWS rescues dogs and cats, provides them with medical care and puts them up for adoption around Maryland. They offer animals for adoption at the Annapolis Petco.
"We will probably use [the money] on vet fees because that is our biggest expense since we are all volunteers," Radeackar said. "We already have seven donations today. I'm amazed, thrilled."
