Two ladies pulled into a prime parking space on Main Street downtown on Friday right as I slipped a vinyl bag over top of the meter at 4:30 p.m. They looked confused until I turned the bag around so they could see what it said: "Free parking, brought to you by Patch."

From 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., no one paid for parking on Main Street—thanks to Patch and Mainstreets Annapolis Partnership (MAP). Prizes and discounts for this event were also provided by Shades of the Bay, Brown Eyed Girl, Alpaca International and more area businesses.

If you missed the chance to stop by to speak with Patch staff, including local editor Anna Staver, you can still sign up for the free daily newsletter to ensure you don't miss any future events or local happenings.
