In honor of the academy's 167th birthday, the brigade of midshipmen performed “A Salute to the City of Annapolis” parade at Worden Field.
The brigade of midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy celebrated the school's 167th birthday with a formal dress parade saluting the city of Annapolis.
Naval Academy Superintendent Vice Adm. Michael H. Miller, Vice Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mark Ferguson, Adm. Kirkland Donald and Mayor Josh Cohen acted as official reviewers.
"In today’s military the reviewing official (reviewer) is a ceremonial function based on the days when the troops passed in review (marched) before the commanding officer to provide him an opportunity to observe the appearance and readiness of the uniforms, arms and equipment of his men," said Judy Campbell, a Naval Academy spokeswoman.
