Safe Bets for Family Fun

You are pressed for time, so we've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

Look for the kids’ planner each Friday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips — just add them to the comment box. Even if you disagree with our picks, let us know. We want to hear from you!

Here is the list for Feb. 17-23:

LEGO CLUB MEETING

  • Where/WhenLEGO Store, Westfield Annapolis mall, Parole. Saturday, 9 a.m.
  • Why: LEGO Club members love to attend this meeting to build with fellow LEGO lovers with a special theme each month. All participants receive a FREE T-shirt. Registration is required and space is limited to 20 children. 

  • Price: $25 per child.

BRIDGES TO THE WORLD FILM FESTIVAL

  • Where/When: Maryland Hall, 801 Chase St., Annapolis, MD 21401. Thursdays, 7 p.m.
  • Why:  The film festival is jointly sponsored by World Artists Experiences and the International Division of Maryland's Office of the Secretary of State.  Each week will feature a new film exploring life experiences in countries and cultures around the world.  

  • Price: Free. 

SCIENCE IN THE KITCHEN

  • Where/WhenWilliams-Sonoma, Westfield Annapolis mall, Parole. Friday, 11 a.m. 
  • Why: Come learn the science behind the baking going on in your kitchen with this demonstration on leavening agents.

  • Price: Free.

BARNES AND NOBLE STORYTIME

  • Why: Pack up the kids and head to Barnes & Noble to enjoy a new book, make new friends. Share the love of reading with your children. 

  • Price: Free

FAMILY NIGHT AT METRO

  • Where/When: Metro Diner, Annapolis Towne Centre at Parole. Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Why: Enjoy a delicious meal with the family and play some games. Metro Diner will provide the arts and crafts to celebrate President's Day.

  • Price: Free with the purchase of meal.
