The Annapolis Pottery Opens Second Location
It's not a joke, the local business has expanded to the Westfield Annapolis Mall.
The Annapolis Pottery has expanded to the Westfield Annapolis Mall—for real.
The local business caused a stir in the community when, as an April Fool's joke, it sent out an email stating that it would set up shop at the Market House, a historic space on the city dock.
The email informed residents that the business would add two new floors to the building and a waterslide that would dump users into the water near Ego Alley.
Some residents were upset by the news, but others were very excited, said Lydia Ferwerea, a studio manager for the business.
"We were getting a lot of calls," she said.
The Westfield location opened on Friday, and serves as a compliment to the downtown flagship store, located at 40 State Circle.
"We were looking to grow a little bit and reach more people," Ferwerea said.
The business, which was first established on Corn Hill Street in 1969, creates half of its own inventory and also sells products from about 70 different pottery studios.
Employees are planning a grand opening celebration for the new location, which is located directly across from California Pizza Kitchen, in the near future, Ferwerea said.

I happened to be at the Mall yesterday evening and was delighted to see the store had opened outside of Nordstrom's mall entrance. My husband and I had a great conversation with the employees and we will be shopping there for interesting and fun items for any upcoming occasion.
