No. 1—Man Arrested for Threatening Patrons in Annapolis Theater

Moviegoers fled a theater at the Bow Tie Cinemas at the Annapolis Harbour Center after a man started swearing and pretending to point a gun at patrons Wednesday afternoon. Anne Arundel County charged Kyle Nolan Tanner, 25, with disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment and second-degree assault.

No. 2—Conduit Street House Fire Sends Owner to Hospital

A 45-year-old Annapolis woman was rushed to Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) with first- and second-degree burns on her left hand after a fire broke out in her Conduit Street home Saturday morning. The fire—which started on the second floor of her house—caused about $35,000 to $40,000 worth of damage. A fire fighter was also taken to AAMC with minor injuries.

No. 3—Naval Academy Midshipman Killed in Crash

A junior and soon to be captain of the Naval Academy's gymnastics team died tragically in a car accident near his hometown of Allentown, PA Friday morning. Austin Zalik, 21, is believed to have been sleeping in his pickup truck when it rolled down an embankment and onto an off ramp on Interstate 78 where a tractor-trailer slammed into the driver's side. Zalik was pronounced dead at the scene.

No. 4—County Executive's Trial Postponed Until 2013

The trial of Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold was postponed by at least two months on Thursday. Leopold's attorney asked for the extension stating that he needed more time to prepare a defense. The trial had been slated to started Sept. 4.

No. 5—Loudon Opposes Gay Marriage By Eating Chick-fil-A

Faith Loudon, the Republican candidate for Maryland 4th Congressional district showed her support for Chick-fil-A and her opposition to gay marriage by making three campaign stop at aread restauarants on Wednesday. Chick-fil-A's president Dan Cathy made headlines earlier this month when he said gay marriage invites "God’s judgment on our nation."
