I drive this section of West street a couple times a day. Many drivers ignore honoring the pedestrian crosswalks when pedestrians are waiting on the side. Many pedestrians also cross at non-crosswalk locations. We need to improve our driver-pedestrian interactions, especially on this active corridor on West Street . Reliably and consistently stopping for pedestrians waiting to cross at crosswalks will encourage more pedestrians to use the appropriate crosswalk locations, and, most importantly keep all citizens safe as they get where they need to go. This is occurring from the center of downtown to the West Street Circle, but not further west. How often are injuries occurring on West Street from Rt. 2 into downtown at the West Street Circle?
