MD Voter Registration Ends Tuesday

The last day Marylanders can register to vote in November's presidential election is Oct. 16.

The deadline to register to vote in November's election is Tuesday at 9 p.m.

Marylanders still looking to register or update their registration information can do so in person, online or by mail.

Federal law requires that people registering to vote provide a Maryland driver’s license number, a MVA identification card number or the last four digits of a social security number. If you have none of these items, you must "affirm, under penalty of perjury, that you do not have" any of them, according to the state Board of Elections website.

Here's how to register in Anne Arundel County:

1. In person

County residents can go to Anne Arundel County's Board of Elections, located on the second floor of 7320 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie, to register in person. On Tuesday, the board has extended its hours, and will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

2. Online

Gov. Martin O'Malley announced in August that Marylanders could register online using their driver's licenses or state-issued IDs. Voters can register using the online system until 9 p.m.

3. By mail

Paper registrations must be postmarked by Tuesday. To download a printable copy of Maryland's voter registration form, click here.

Print forms can be mailed to the Maryland Board of Elections at:
P.O. Box 6486
Annapolis, MD 21401-0486

Or forms can be mailed to Anne Arundel County's Board of Elections at:
P.O. Box 490
Glen Burnie, MD 21060-0490

Patch previously encouraged people to register last month on National Voter Registration Day. Note you are not considered a registered voter until you receive your Voter Notification Card, according to the Maryland Board of Elections website.

Any registered voter (who is qualified for that election) can vote during early voting, which will take place Oct. 27 to Nov. 1.

Mailed my absentee ballot today for Anne Arundel County. Because it is two cards, the cost is 65 cents (had it weighed at USPO) or use 2 stamps. Don't forget to use a NO. 2 PENCIL, AND BE sure to sign the exterior of the envelope. Took some time to go thru candidates, charter amends and ST constitution amends. Be sure to read voters guide before voting, otherwise the lines could get long. VOTE EARLY.

65 cents to mail printed ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY ballot in one envelope. Or 2 stamps. Had envelope weighed at USPO this am. Be sure to sign on envelope exterior. Friend forgot to do so and traveled to Glen Burnie to make sure her vote counted.
