Woman Hits Clerk With Vodka Bottle Over Change Dispute
Police said a Annapolis store clerk was hit over the head with a vodka bottle during an argument with a customer over whether he gave her correct change.
A woman hit a store clerk in the head with a vodka bottle and stole his cellphone in a dispute over whether he gave her the correct change, according to the Annapolis Police Department.
The woman entered Capital Liquors at 249 West St. at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday and bought a bottle of Rikaloff vodka and a pack of Newport cigarettes. Police said the woman believed she gave the clerk a $20 bill, but the clerk claimed she paid with a $10.
The argument escalated, and the clerk told police he pulled out his cellphone to dial 911. The clerk reported that this upset the woman, who grabbed the bag with her purchases off the counter and whacked him over the head with the bottle. She then grabbed his cellphone and left the store, police said.
The clerk declined medical attention and police were unable to locate the woman who was last seen traveling down West Street on foot towards the Gulf gas station.
