It was a bit chilly for the kids who jumped in the pool at 8 a.m. on Sunday as part of the sixth annual Truxton Youth Triathlon hosted by the city of Annapolis.

The triathlon featured swimming in the pool at Truxton Park along with biking and running a course around the surrounding area for kids as young as 7 through teens.

The event is part of the Maryland Youth Triathlon Series, which aims to promote healthy lifestyle choices through multiple sports, according to its website. The other youth triathlons are held in Frederick, Columbia and Mount Airy. Kids that compete in two or more of the triathlons receive a certificate of recognition from the state of Maryland.
