Who doesn’t wish to be his or her own boss?  For 22 year-old Charlie Ayers, this isn’t just a wish, it is reality! With the support of The Arc’s MicroEnterprise Program, Charlie shares his professional skills with the community as the proud owner of Ayers Home Services, LLC. From handyman services to landscaping work, Charlie and his employees at Ayers Home Services do it all!

“I have big plans for my business.” says Charlie “Just like everyone else I get up in the morning and go to work.” And boy does he work! Each job he takes is done with precision and meticulous attention to detail.

The traditional employment path doesn’t always fit the talents and skills of an individual. Being dedicated to empowering individuals and helping them achieve their dreams sometimes calls for a creative but realistic new path. Through the MicroEnterprise program, The Arc supports people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in making work WORK. For Charlie, a customizable approach to employment was essential in helping him attain his goals.
