The 40 gallons of paint K&B True Value Hardware, working through the True Value Foundation, presented to Eastport Elementary has now been applied to the school’s 2-story multi-purpose room.
“It looks fantastic! While our artist hasn't completed the 3-themed panels that will be installed before the kids return this fall, it still is a great improvement” says Eastport Elementary PTA Vice President Sharon Durland.
“Our school building is over 100 years old but in very good shape—except for the multi-purpose room. Used as a gym, lunchroom and assembly hall, this room hadn’t been painted in many years and was just dark and dreary. And while the county had some repairs scheduled, painting wasn’t going to be done.” explained Durland.
“K&B helped us improve an environment the kids spend so much time in which I think will help improve their attitudes and effort” Durland adds.
K&B True Value’s owner, Jared Littmann, contacted Annapolis area schools last fall to inform them of the True Value Foundation’s “Painting a Brighter Future” program which provides grants for up to 40 gallons of paint to over 100 schools across the country each year.
“In this era of budget cuts I knew some Annapolis schools could benefit from this program” said Littmann.
K&B True Value’s Littmann hopes to help other Annapolis area schools receive 40 gallons of paint. “It’s amazing how fresh paint can change the feel of a room” says Littmann.
The True Value Foundation will begin accepting applications 2013 “Painting a Brighter Future” grants in August.
