Almost 100 crab lovers feasted on these delicacies at the Annapolis Senior Activity Center Sept. 26. Some also stopped by a voter registration table to ask questions about voting.
The center was filled with the sounds of "beating and banging" as each senior devoured a dozen crabs, steamed corn on the cob, and coleslaw. Some couldn't eat the whole meal so decided to take some home for later. The crabs, provided by Chesapeake Seafood in Edgewater, Md., were deemed the best these seniors had ever eaten.
The voter registration table, manned by Joanna Hanes-Lahr, Clarence Goldberg, and former Annapolis Mayor Ellen Moyer, got a few new registered voters, but they mostly answered questions about voting. They answered questions about getting rides to the polls, polling places, absentee ballots, early voting and address changes.
The Annapolis Senior Activity Center is one of seven senior centers operated by the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities. Membership is free and open to seniors 55 and up.
