• Get ready for a Flood Bucket Frenzy!  Grab your oldest pair of shoes, put on some old clothes and join us for one of our biggest and messiest volunteer events of the year!

  The Federation Celebration starts on Sunday, October 9^th with the “Flood Bucket Bonanza.”  With over 700 “Flood Buckets”, we need your help distributing the oysters onto the sanctuary bed, as well as, filling the buckets with new baby oysters, called spat.  Before the Federation became involved with the Marylanders Grow Oysters (MGO) program, John Flood, founder of the South River Federation, created his own oyster cages called Flood Buckets, where inside of oysters grow.  Dumping these oysters might be a messy job, but you’ll get an up close and personal experience with what you can find in these cages—there’s more than just oysters growing in these Flood Buckets.
