Rescue a Rain Garden!
In 2007, a beautiful rain garden (pictured above) was installed on Lincoln Drive in Annapolis to address stormwater runoff. Since then, the rain garden has become over grown and littered with trash as you can see in the picture below.
The South River Federation is hosting a volunteer day on Tuesday, July 26th from 9:00 a.m. to noon to clean up trash and remove weeds. With our great volunteers and a Master Watershed Steward, we can rescue this rain garden and make it beautiful again! Email jennifer@southriverfederation.net to RSVP.
Fun Facts about the Lincoln Dr. Rain Garden
- Treats runoff from l.6 acres of impervious surface
- With a storage volume of 2,001 cubic feet, it handles 80.5% of ½ inch storm
- Per year, 2,001,783 gallons of stormwater is treated
- 60% of estimated rainfall is cleansed before it reaches Spa Creek
