Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr/’s Birthday
with hands-on activities about the simple but complex topic of our skin color. Why are we different and how are
we all the same? Inspired by the picture
book “The Skin You Live In,” we will use common objects including potatoes and other items from the kitchen to demystify the subject of pigmentation. Participants will bake and eat potato skins! Yum!
Ages 7 to 12.
$8 per child. Free for accompanying adults.

More About Chesapeake Children's Museum
Chesapeake Children's Museum is located in the former Youth Services Bureau building at the head of Spa Creek with more than five acres of city owned park land. Chesapeake Children's Museum strives to create an environment of discovery about oneself, the people, the technologies, and the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay area.
This museum has eight exhibits within the museum and five outdoor exhibits that range from visual to interactive installations. Youth, adult, Girl Scout and Cub Scout workshops are available as well as membership plans.
Groups of 10 or more must schedule an appointment to visit. Wednesdays at the museum are reserved for groups only. The museum can also come to your youth group, school, birthday party or community event. Call for details.
