Westfield Annapolis Now Offering Childcare for Shoppers, Diners

New service, KidCare, will provide mall customers with up to two hours of free childcare while they hit mall shops, restaurants and salons.

’s latest addition is generating the type of buzz generally reserved for the opening of a trendy fashion retailer.

But this opening is not for a new store or restaurant.

On Wednesday, the Parole mall will launch WFamily KidCare, a complimentary new service that will provide free childcare while parents head out for more shopping, or even a quiet dinner without the kids, according to a release. It's the first service of its type throughout the entire Westfield chain.

The childcare center is open to kids age 3 to 9.

“We understand the demands put on families and are delighted to offer parents a complimentary, worry-free, two-hour window when they can shop, enjoy lunch or a visit to one of our salons,” Christiann Wallace, marketing director for Westfield

Annapolis, said in a release.

The KidCare, which opens at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the court next to the mall’s new play space, is a fully contained space filled with kid-sized comforts and loads of activities, Wallace said in the release.

“From interactive play with Wii to storybooks, puzzles to arts and crafts, little ones will love their time spent at WFamily KidCare,” according to the release.

Once a month KidCare will host special guests including storytellers, representatives from area attractions such as the National Aquarium and more. In addition, Westfield Annapolis will offer special “Date Night” and “Girls Day Out” packages combining the convenience of KidCare with special offers from mall retailers, restaurants and attractions.

Regular hours

Beginning Wednesday, KidCare will be open during all center hours:

  • Monday through Saturday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • First-come, first-served basis for children ages 3 to 9, who are fully potty-trained.
  • The maximum capacity is 15.
  • WFamily KidCare is owned and managed by Kids Court Maryland, a licensed childcare provider.

To celebrate the opening of KidCare, Westfield is holding a contest from Wednesday through Dec. 15, asking shoppers “What will you do with YOUR two hours?”

Winners will walk away with a Shopping Day Out, including transportation for the winner and three friends, exclusive swag bags, a $500 shopping spree along with a private shopping concierge, and lunch at the winner’s choice of one of Westfield Annapolis’ restaurants.
