Three days into 2014, candidates for Anne Arundel County Executive are hard at work vying for the attention of voters.

Campaign websites for three executive candidates—Laura Neuman, Steve Schuh, and Joanna Conti—have all been posted online.

Neuman, a Republican currently serving out the remainder of former county executive John R. Leopold's term, has quickly made a name for herself by upgrading the county government's aging technologies and fighting the stormwater management fee often called the "rain tax."

On her website, Neuman said she wears her "fiscal conservatism as a badge of honor."

"Since taking office, I have made it my life’s work to restore confidence and integrity to the Office of the County Executive and to make Anne Arundel County – once again – a place that residents and businesses are proud to call home," Neuman said.

Schuh, a Republican delegate representing District 31, squared off against Neuman and 15 others during the executive nomination process in February 2012. Schuh officially filed paperwork for candidacy Friday morning, according to a press release.

On his website, Schuh said he has a new vision for the county.

"Today we embark on a journey to bring the highest standards of ethics, service and management to Anne Arundel County government," Schuh said. "My campaign will emphasize the priorities of the citizens of Anne Arundel County, including reducing taxes and fees, improving our schools, assuring public safety, cleaning up our environment, and reforming regulations to create jobs and economic opportunity."

Conti, a Democrat from the Broadneck peninsula, has founded nonprofits like Anne Arundel Cares, and served as chair of the school system's Citizen Advisory Committee. She ran an unsuccessful bid for county executive in 2010 against Leopold. Click here to see her blog on Patch

On her website, Conti has a campaign video that highlights her background and goals if she is chosen as the next executive.

"I have been a problem-solver who develops innovative, low-cost solutions to complex problems all of my professional life. As your County Executive, I will use these skills to make beautiful Anne Arundel County an even better place to live and work," Conti said.

The primary election is scheduled for June 24, and the general election is Nov. 4. The last day candidates can file for the race is Feb. 24.
