Have Birthday Parties Grown Out of Control?

Greater Annapolis Patch invites you and your circle of friends to help build a community of support for mothers and their families with weekly topics.

Patch invites you and your circle of friends to help build a community of support for mothers and their families right here in Greater Annapolis. Each week in Moms Talk, our Moms Council of experts and smart moms take your questions, give advice and share solutions.

Moms, dads, grandparents and the diverse families who make up our community will have a new resource for questions about local neighborhood schools, the best pediatricians, 24-hour pharmacies and the thousands of other issues that arise while raising children.

Moms Talk also will be the place to drop in for a talk about the latest parenting hot topic.

Summer is no different than the school year: there seems to be a birthday party every weekend. At least.

The big bow-out, 10 pizza-ordering, pool-reserving, Spongebob cupcake-having, sibling-welcome birthday party in our household was last year. We're thinking of scaling back for this year.

Some parents out there say birthday parties have grown possibly too elaborate. In short, they have become out of control; the next even more grand than the last.

So this week's question: What do you think about the state of children's birthday parties?

So come on in, join the conversation and share your thoughts by leaving a comment below (note you must sign up to be a Patch user before you can make comments on the site).

Tune in next week for another question from our Greater Annapolis Moms Council or send your questions to editor john.wilfong@patch.com and put "Moms Talk" in the subject.
