10 People in Boating Accident Were Intoxicated, Police Said

Police said all 10 passengers aboard a motorboat that struck a pylon of the Bay Bridge on Saturday appeared to be intoxicated.

Police said they suspect that not one of the 10 people they rescued off a boat that crashed into a pylon of the Bay Bridge on Saturday night was sober, according to CBS Baltimore.

The Department of Natural Resources Police and the Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded to a call around 9 p.m. on Saturday for a boat that struck a rock piling near the center span of the bridge.

One person sustained a minor head injury and was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center, Battalion Chief Steve Thompson told Patch on Sunday. The other nine passengers were unhurt and taken to Sandy Point State Park.

DNR Police escorted everyone from the boat—even though it only sustained minor damage—because they suspected all the passengers were too intoxicated to drive it back to shore, according to CBS Baltimore.

U could call Captain Ham Gale of TowBoatUS Annapolis (410 263 1212) to comment on the slight damage to the boat and his efforts to salvage and tow the vessel to a boat lift to prevent it's sinking and subsequent environmental damage.

Why are you using my Bay Bridge picture without credit or permission?
Anna Staver September 26, 2012 at 02:34 PM
Hi Hugh, Your name is listed as the photographer on the image, so you have received credit for the great photo. Additionally, you uploaded this image to our pics and clips gallery, which gives Patch permission to reuse the photo as it sees fit. I've also sent you a longer email that will hopefully clear up any confusion on this issue. Patch does not pull images from the web, nor do we publish photos without permission. I think the confusion here is that you might not have realized that the terms of service granted Patch the right to reuse images uploaded to our pics and clips gallery. Our terms of service can be found here: http://annapolis.patch.com/terms
