Annapolis Woman Dies After Crash in Odenton

Police are seeking the driver of a four-door Chevrolet Silverado truck who left the scene after the crash.

A 27-year-old Annapolis woman died from injuries sustained in a crash Sunday night on Annapolis Road in Odenton, according to Anne Arundel County police.

Danielle Stitely, of 53-½ Cornhill St., died at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, according to a police press release issued Monday morning.

The driver of the other car involved in the accident reportedly fled the scene.

Battalion Chief Steve Thompson of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said the crash happened at about 8:20 p.m. Sunday at the 1100 block of Annapolis Road. There were two vehicles involved: a four-door Chevrolet Silverado truck and a Lexus sedan.

Police said the driver of the truck fled the scene on foot after the collision and did not help Stitely, who was driving the sedan. Witnesses told police the truck driver was a white woman with brown hair wearing a pink tank top and jeans.

The investigation indicates that the truck was traveling west on Annapolis Road when the Lexus, which was pulling out of the parking lot, suddenly pulled into the path of the truck. The two vehicles reportedly collided and the Lexus came to rest in the grassy area on the south side of the road while the truck began to rotate and struck a telephone pole.

Police said the cause of the crash appears to be that the Lexus failed to yield the right of way to the truck. It is not known at this time if speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this crash or the identity of the truck driver is asked to call 410-222-8573.
