A person or persons attempted to break into an Eastport home through a rear window early Monday morning, according to Annapolis police.
The homeowners told police that they awoke to the sound of their security alarm going off at 2 a.m. They searched the home, which is on the 500 block of Fourth Street, but only found a rear bay window open about two to three inches.
The woman told police that she often leaves that window open for her cat, so she closed the window and went back upstairs.
Police said that later on Monday morning the couple discovered that the window screen was cut by what appeared to be a straight-edge tool and they called the police.
