An unlicensed driver crashed a rental car through the front of the Royal Farms at 424 6th St. at about 12:40 a.m. Saturday.
The car, a late model Toyota Corolla, was driven fully inside the Eastport location, according to an Annapolis Fire Department press release. There were no injuries.
"The woman was cited and charged with driving without a license," said Annapolis Police Detective Amy Miguez. "It probably means she never had one or it was expired."
Miguez wasn't sure when the store would re-open, and said a City of Annapolis Building Inspector has labeled the Royal Farms as condemned pending further inspection.
"It appears that the main damage was the front entry doors," Battalion Chief John Menassa said. "The car wiped out the two entry doors, however it didn't appear to me that it did any structural damage to the actual framework."
Miguez said the driver is not suspected of being under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred.
