The man charged with the Speicher Drive incident is on parole for a 2002 armed robbery in South Carolina.

Anne Arundel County Police said a man wanted in connection with numerous burglaries, thefts and other crimes, including a daytime burglary off of Riva Road on April 14 was arrested Wednesday by Washington Metro Transit Police.

David Alexander Potter, 42, of the 7700 block of Riverdale Road in Hyattsville is charged with multiple counts of burglary and theft, as well as malicious destruction of property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, according to a county police release.

On April 14, police responded to two separate daytime burglaries, one on Speicher Drive in Riva just before 10 a.m. and one on Rossback Road in Davidsonville at 10:19 a.m. At Rossback Road, a carjacked vehicle was recovered and the homeowners' 2007 Toyota Highlander was reported stolen.

Based on information from eyewitnesses and evidence recovered at each scene, police linked the two incidents to the same person, according to the release.

The carjacked vehicle found at the scene was later traced to separate Montgomery County and Millersville residential burglaries, which both occurred on April 11.

Anne Arundel County police began working with Montgomery County police on the case.

The next day, on Friday, April 15, Alexandria City Police responded to a domestic disturbance call and found that the suspect in that incident fled the scene in the stolen Toyota from Davidsonville. At that time, police identified the suspect as Potter.

Police said Potter's fingerprints matched those found at the scene of the Davidsonville burglary. Anne Arundel County Police obtained an arrest warrant for all three incidents and began working with police in mutliple jurisdictions in the Washington, D.C., metro area.

Wednesday, Potter was located by Metro Transit Police and was still in possession of the stolen Toyota, according to an Anne Arundel County release.

Potter is curently on parole in South Carolina for a 2002 armed robbery, according to the release. Police said he is suspected in numerous other crimes over the past two weeks in the Washington metropolitan area.

Police did not release a photo of Potter at this time.
