A man drove his car through a Sprint store on Forest Drive in Annapolis Monday, and police said he only owned a learner's permit.
Juan C. Ruiz Luengas, 21, of Captain's Circle in Annapolis, was charged with driving on highway without required license, driving a vehicle in violation of license requirements and failure to control vehicle speed.
Luengas was driving a 2004 Mazda when it crashed into the store, shattered the front glass windows and struck the front counter before coming to a stop, according to a police report.
Two people were hospitalized as a result of the wreck.
A 26-year-old male customer from Glen Burnie was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after sustaining a head injury, and a 45-year-old female employee from Baltimore was struck by debris and transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries, according to the report.
Luengas told police that the brakes on the vehicle were not working, but after investigation, the brakes were found to be functioning properly, police said.
