A martial arts instructor at an Edgewater studio has been charged with sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl he met during classes, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

Jason Alexander Webb, 26, of 704 Childs Point Road in Annapolis turned himself in to authorities on Feb. 20 after an arrest warrant was issued for him, police said.

The investigation began in October of 2013 when the Anne Arundel County Police Department, along with the Department of Social Services, received a report of sexual child abuse. The allegations accused Webb, a martial arts instructor at East Coast Martial Arts in Edgewater, of having sexual relations with a minor he had met during martial arts classes.

Investigators determined Webb began the relationship with the victim in July of 2013 and it continued for several months. Webb was interviewed regarding the allegations and it was learned that he had inappropriate sexual contact with the 14-year-old female victim on several occasions at his residence in Annapolis, police said.

Webb has been charged with child abuse, sex abuse of a minor, third- and fourth-degree sex offenses and second-degree assault.

Anyone with information about Webb or who may have been a victim is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 410-222-3566.

I can not speak as to if the allegations are true or not What I can attest to is the actions of one person is not a representation of what East Coast Martial Arts is or stands for. My three kids along with myself currently take classes at ECMA and have no intentions of changing that. I consider ECMA part of my family and trust the staff completely with all three of my kids. We have been taking classes at ECMA for about 6 years.

My name is Ashley, I'm 19 years old, and I am a familiar face to the second home I like to call East Coast Martial Arts. I have been an active member since I was six years old, whether it was taking classes, taking summer camps, teaching, or coaching, I have done it all when it comes to East Coast. I have also had the privilege to grow up with Jason Webb and all of the instructors since I began at such a young age. Never have I been uncomfortable or concerned with any of the instructors or assistants in my 13 years of involvement at East Coast Martial Arts. What is being displayed in social media with the current issues at hand is a false representation of the place that raised me to be the successful person I am today and plan on becoming upon graduation at Florida Southern College of Lakeland, Florida. Tommy Lee has been a second father to me and has always made the best decisions for his parents and students, which are seen as family in his eyes. He will go to the ends of the Earth to make sure his family is safe and satisfied with the learning environment he has provided throughout the years. I have no doubt the school will continue to flourish and change the lives of many, just like it changed mine.

Crimes against children are so heinous that accused pedophiles like Webb, Sylvain Kustyan, Jerry Sandusky, etc. must be apprehended before they have years to continue to destroy young lives. Sandusky and Webb are now safely behind bars. But unfortunately, Kustyan, who has been formally charged with two counts each of 1st Degree Sodomy and Sexual Abuse of a ten-year-old little boy, fled to avoid imminent arrest. Kustyan, formerly of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Hermin/ Mazingarbe, France, as an English teacher, has led numerous groups of schoolchildren on trips to the US, the UK and Ireland.. Pedophiles condemn their victims to a lifetime of emotional and psychological trauma and often permanent physical ailments as well. Since the average pedophile has 300 different victims in their lifetime and since the recidivism rate among pedophiles is virtually 100% and since there is no effective treatment and no known cure they must be stopped ASAP!

If this began the Summer of 2013, why did it take nearly 8 months for him to charged? It took this young lady how long to report the first incident? This sounds like a case of broken heart. If he showed this young lady attention and later rejected her, I'm sure she wanted him to hurt as much as she hurt. I've seen first hand how far people will go when their feelings are hurt.

People should not be so quick to judge or jump to conclusions without knowing all the facts. I am not saying if Jason is innocent or guilty. What I am saying us accusing him of being a pedophile and comparing him to Sandusky without knowing all the details is irresponsible.

She is 14. She's a child and not capable of making adult decisions.

A 26 year old having sex with a 14 year old? That is the definition of a pedophile.

East Coast Martial Arts (ECMA) is a top-notch institution that teaches leadership and discipline to people of all ages. I proudly send my older daughter there and plan to send my 4-year-old this fall. I am sorry for Jason, the girl involved and their parents; obviously bad decisions were made. ECMA will continue to be a part of our family for many years.

Regardless of how top notch this martial arts studio is, it's still a place of business, and they failed to keep their employees, clients and general public safe. Knowingly or unknowingly, they are still liable for EVERY action that takes place regarding their employees. This obviously started in their place of business so get ready for the lawsuits and possibly more victims and/or allegations. It usually never ends with just one incident. He didn't become a pedophile overnight.

My daughter started at East Coast Martial Arts back in 1998 and my son started in 2000 and I started in 2003. I have know Master Tommy Lee for many years and he's a great instructor and a great person. He cares very much for all his students and their families. He always made us feel like part of the family, some places say this but don't really mean it. You just knew that Master Tommy did mean it. I am so glad my kids and I went to ECMA for all the years we did. This is where I got introduced to the Martial Arts I love so much!! People who know me know how much I love all types of Martial Arts and without Master Tommy, Master Erik, Master Chris and numerous other wonderful instructors I would have not known any of it. I just hope that people don't judge ECMA for the mistake of a young person. None of us really know the whole story so wait and see what happens. Remember, in our country it's innocent until proven guilty. If I had to do it again I would still take my kids there. This place only gave positive things to my kids. To this day they love ECMA and Master Tommy!!

They ought to let a few of his fellow martial arts instructors handle the problem. Their own way.

My son received his black belt from ECMA. Yet, he really received so more. He is young man of great character. I attribute a lot of this to the wonderful instructors and Tommy Lee of ECMA! We plan on coming back to ECMA after track season. I am a proud parent of an ECMA BLACK BELT!

My son also received his black belt from ECMA, my daughter took classes there, I took classes there, I worked there for some time as well. NEVER and i mean NEVER was there anything but the utmost respect, integrity and genuine concern for the students from Mr. Tommy and every single staff member. We were part of this wonderful family for many years and years later, i know i can pick up the phone and Mr. Tommy will be there for us. How many people do we know that you can say that about. Without the lessons that we learned from ECMA, my children nor I would be who we are today. I stand behind Mr. Tommy, every single instructor at ECMA and stand behind everything ECMA stands for. If you don't know this community/school/family that work so hard to help so many - then you just don't know.

Being a school owner and have been for 20 years I know as a school owner, we can't control everyone's actions in every part of their life. We have many policies and training for staff in place to prevent this from happening. Master Tommy Lee is a friend and I have been to his school many times over the years. He not only has great training and policies for his staff but has cameras all over the school. Master Tommy Lee is well respected in the industry! ECMA has great programs and great instructors! We cannot allow the actions of one to cloud all the good Master Tommy Lee and his staff has done over the last 20 years.

I have been around ECMA and master Tommy Lee for 10 years. The culture at his school is positive and Master Tommy Lee is very strict on how his staff should behave. He has helped me with my school and has mentored me on operating a school with integrity and respect for others. Unfortunately we cannot control the actions of our employees, friends , or even loved ones. I have been at many meetings and trainings and know he does not teach negative behavior. I have been blessed by knowing Master tommy Lee and his staff at ECMA. I can only speak about my personal experience and many school owners and students who know him personally. I will continue to support Tommy Lee and his staff at ECMA.

Our family has been involved with ECMA for approximately 10 years. My daughter and I have participated as students, competitors and now assistant instructors. ECMA has become a second home to us. We have developed life long friendships with many associated with the school and ECMA has had a very positive impact on our lives. The school owner and its instructors and support staff have all been outstanding role models. The positive impact ECMA has had on so many within the Annapolis community is profound. As a family - we fully support the school, its staff and very much look forward to many years of learning training, sharing and friendship.
